Phlebotomy service (blood tests)
The Phlebotomy Service provides blood testing for patients aged 16 and over. This service supports the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of a wide range of health conditions.
What tests are provided
A range of routine and specialist blood tests are available, as requested by your referring clinician. Blood tests that cannot be performed at Mansfield Community Diagnostic Centre are:
- Ammonia
- Calcitonin
- Cryoglobulin
- Factor Assay
- Gut Hormone
- Lupus
- Metanephrine
- Thrombophilia
- Vitamin A and E.
If you require any of these tests, they will need to be performed at our King's Mill Hospital site.
Booking your appointment
A referral from your General Practice (GP) or hospital clinician is required before booking an appointment. Please ensure you have received your referral prior to arranging your visit.
Once referred, appointments must be booked online, on the Swiftqueue platform:
Appointments are available Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5.30pm.
We understand that some patients may not have access to digital services or may require assistance. In these circumstances, we kindly ask that GP practices or referring clinicians book the appointment on the patient’s behalf.

Preparing for your test
Depending on the type of blood test requested, you may be required to:
- Fast for a certain period before your appointment
- Take medications as advised by your clinician
- Stay well hydrated.
