The Department of Cellular Pathology

The Department of Cellular Pathology provides comprehensive histopathology, non-gynae cytology, andrology and mortuary services for the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust and for the North Nottinghamshire Health Community.

The Mortuary at King’s Mill Hospital is a well-equipped unit and provides a comprehensive body store and viewing service to the Trust. There is no Post Mortem Service on-site.

Cellular Pathology is a UKAS accredited medical laboratory No. 8705.

The laboratory also complies with HTA Standards.

Department opening hours

The Histopathology Department is open from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm. There is no out of hours service for Histopathology.

The Mortuary is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Mortuary 24-hour on-call service is available for viewings and external admissions via the switchboard.
