What can you expect from Sherwood Forest Hospitals

  • Provide you the practical and emotional care and support needed following an incident.
  • Ensure you are not out of pocket.
  • Sickness record is not unfairly affected.
  • Provide you the time to attend appointments.

Physical Injury Support

If you are physically injured and require medical attention immediately visit the Emergency Department, King’s Mill Hospital (24/7) or the Urgent Treatment Centre, Newark General Hospital.

Occupational Health and Physiotherapy

If you are injured this this has a lasting impact on your work ensure your manager refers you to Occupational Health Service and if appropriate seek support from our Staff Physiotherapy Service.

Injury at work allowance

Injury allowance is payable when a member of staff is on authorised sickness absence or on a phased return to work with reduced pay or no pay due to an injury, disease or other health condition that is wholly or mainly attributable to their NHS employment.

Broken personal possessions 

Colleagues who have possessions e.g. glasses broken during an incident can seek financial reimbursement from the trust. Speak to your line manager in the first instance who will complete a losses form.

Psychological Harm Support

Experiencing violence and/or aggression whether physical or verbal in person or over the phone can affect people in different ways. Initially people can feel angry or nervous. Some people will find it easy to talk but others may find themselves wanting to isolate themselves. Talking about your experience can help you to process what has happened.

VIVUP Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and Counselling

VIVUP provide a 24/7, 365 days a year confidential helpline offering a non-judgemental listening ear and provide FREE Staff Counselling

Clinical Psychology Wellbeing Service

When more than counselling is needed, one to one or  staff groups may be supported by our Clinical Psychologist. For referral, please discuss with your line manager or e-mail sfh-tr.clinical-psychologists@nhs.net

Trauma Risk Management (TriM)

TRiM is a trauma-focused peer support intervention based on ‘active monitoring’ following a traumatic event. If you or your team experience a traumatic event a list of everyone affected can be shared with the TriM managers via sfh-tr.stafftrimreferrals@nhs.net . The Trim team will work with managers to support colleagues.

Spiritual and Pastoral Care

The Spiritual and Pastoral care team offer a 24/7 confidential, sympathetic non-judgemental listening ear for those of any faith and those who do not have any religious belief. Call 01623 622515 ext 2754 between 8.30am and 4.30pm / 3047 or call Switchboard for the on call Chaplain 24/7.

Freedom to Speak Up Guardian / Champions

Speak up and raise concerns about practice at work, including patient safety, health and safety and fraud.
