Accessibility statement for Sherwood Forest Hospitals
This accessibility statement applies to the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust website (www.sfh-tr.nhs.uk).
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. In order to ensure that all of our visitors can use our website, these pages aim to meet Level-A and Level-AA standards of WCAG 2.2 (external link). This means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser functionality
- zoom in up to 400 per cent without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard or speech recognition software
- interact with most of the website using a screen reader (including recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).
We also try to make the website text as simple as possible to understand.
If you have a disability, AbilityNet (external link) has advice on making your device easier to use.

We are committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
A third-party accessibility audit has been completed on this website and recommendations have been made for improvement.
We are actively working to address these issues as part of an ongoing programme to improve the accessibility of this website.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents.
The accessibility regulations (external link) do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018, if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Live video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations (external link).
Third-party content
Our website contains some third-party content that we do not have control over and are not responsible for the accessibility of this content, but we endeavour to work with the third party to improve its accessibility. This may include:
- links to non-Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundations Trust websites
- content or functionality embedded in, but not a part of our website. This includes;
- Embedded job search boards on our vacancies page
- content hosted on other websites, such as social media sites
- Google Translate feedback form - We are aware that the google form when asking the user to rate the translation does not meet the following accessibility guidelines:
- Identify the purpose of fields programmatically
- Ensure form controls have labels
- Ensure controls change appearance when they are selected
- Add a submit button to all forms.
What we are doing to improve digital accessibility
We want our website to offer the best experience possible for all our users. In addition to our plan to fix known issues, we continue to work on website content and structure.
- We are actively working to address issues as part of an ongoing programme to improve the accessibility of this website.
- Training everyone that publishes to the web in creating accessible content.
- Providing guidance to services on creating accessible multimedia content.
- Moving away from PDF documents to web pages where possible.
- Conducting regular automated and manual checks of our website and making required corrections and improvements.
