How to donate

The Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity supports patients, families and staff at King’s Mill, Mansfield Community and Newark hospitals throughout the year.

We are very grateful for all the generous donations that we receive as they help us to enhance and improve patient care and facilities to provide the best possible experience for our patients.

There are several ways that you can support us:

You can also make a donation:

By phone: Please call, 01623 676011

In person: Ask for the Community Involvement Department at King’s Mill or Newark hospitals, to present a cheque to the charity.

You can choose to donate to a specific service or ward, or you can donate to our general fund so we can use your donation to buy equipment as it is needed.

All cheques need to be made payable to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity. Please post your cheque to Community Involvement Department at either of the addresses below:

  • King’s Mill Hospital, Mansfield Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 4JL
  • Newark Hospital, Boundary Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 4DE.

The Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity has set up a wish list for anyone wishing to purchase essential items for patients such as activity packs, clothing items and baby sleep suits.

You can manually change the delivery address so your chosen items are delivered straight to the hospital at Community Involvement Hub, King’s Mill Hospital, Mansfield Road, Sutton in Ashfield, Notts, NG17 4JL.

Many individuals and local companies are keen to make donations at particular times of the year, including in the run-up to the festive period.

Here are some additional ideas:

  • Instead of giving or receiving a physical gift or cards, you and your loved ones could make a donation instead. This could be to our general fund or to a specific area. Please contact us for full details of available options.
  • Arrange a festive fundraising event in your workplace, such as a Christmas jumper day. We can provide collection boxes and publicity materials to support this.
  • Join us during December to hear local primary schools perform festive songs and leave a donation in our collection buckets.

Buy a small gift for an adult or child. A gift can bring a smile to the face of a patient, many of whom are elderly and do not have many visitors. An item such as socks, toiletry gift set, jigsaw or blanket really helps to boost morale.

We are only able to accept donations of new items. These must be unwrapped as we will need to check them before distribution.

We are unable to accept donations of second-hand or homemade items, books, soft toys, items with small parts that are a choking hazard and items that may be deemed offensive, such as toy weapons.

Although the thought is kind, not all patients in our care can eat sweet treats because of dietary and medical issues. Instead of donating chocolates or sweets, please consider making a donation to the same value, or buying an item from our Amazon Wishlist.

Our VIP visitor policy, which includes visits to clinical areas by VIPs, celebrities and mascots, is currently under review. During this time, we are unable to facilitate visits by VIPs, celebrities and mascots to inpatient areas. Any visits that do take place are by invitation only. This does not apply to visitors who are visiting a family member or friend.

How to get in touch

Our Community Involvement (Charity) team will be delighted to accept your donations.

Due to strict infection control measures, please do not deliver gifts directly to the wards. Patients may be resting and staff are extremely busy providing patient care.

Please contact us in advance to arrange a suitable date and time to bring your donation and have an official presentation photo. We will log your details to ensure a thank you letter is sent to you.

Please email sfh-tr.charity@nhs.net or telephone 01623 676011 (King’s Mill and Mansfield Community Hospitals) or 01636 685692 (Newark Hospital). We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
