Maternity visiting policy update

Posted Friday, December 18, 2020 2:08 PM

From Monday 21 December 2020 pregnant women will be able to be accompanied by their birth partner for all appointments in the Early Pregnancy Unit and in the Antenatal Clinic. If you have an appointment before then, please do not bring your birth partner unless you are attending for a scan in EPU or a dating or 20 week scan. This is to keep you, our colleagues and other patients safe whilst we make changes to allow us to support the new policy.

From Monday 21 December 2020 birth partners can visit on the maternity ward between 12 noon and 8pm. We will also continue with individualised plans for visiting if you have additional needs.

Please do not attend if you or your birth partner have any symptoms of Covid – 19 including a new continuous cough, loss of taste or smell, a high temperature, a sore throat, any sickness or diarrhoea within the last 48 hours, new muscle aches or general feeling of weakness, a new feeling of tiredness, a headache or any cold symptoms (sneezing/blocked or runny nose), any new breathlessness, any new loss of appetite or feeling sick. Please contact the department to discuss if you have had any of these symptoms.
