The teams have been shortlisted for the following categories:
The Trust’s Safety Culture programme has been shortlisted in the Safety Culture category. Based on an evaluation of the cultural developments that have supported the Trust’s journey from special measures over the last three years, to King’s Mill Hospital being rated Outstanding today. This work started in the Emergency Department and Maternity Services, but was then undertaken across 29 wards across all three sites.
The second shortlisted entry comes in the Improving Care for Older People Award, and it recognises the significant improvements the Trust has made in reducing the amount of time some of our older patients need to spend in hospital allowing them to get back home sooner, and improving the efficiency of care.
The Trust has also been shortlisted in the End of Life Care category alongside a number of other Health and Care partners across Nottinghamshire for the joined up End of Life Care Together Programme.
The Patient Safety Awards help drive improvements in culture and quality across the NHS by celebrating the teams and the people putting safety first.
Dr David Selwyn, Medical Director at Sherwood Forest Hospitals said:
“Huge congratulations to our all the teams who have been shortlisted in this year’s Patient Safety Awards. This is just reward for the hard work and innovation that has gone into each of the projects, and we wish them well for the final judging.”
Winners will be selected ahead of the ceremony, which will take place virtually as part of the Patient Safety Virtual Congress and Awards in November 2020.
