Breast surgery Physiotherapy

The Breast Care physiotherapy service consists of specialists physiotherapists, who can assess and treat common post-operative problems such as

• Problematic scarring
• Altered sensation
• Reduced shoulder joint range of movement
• Muscle Weakness
• Cording of the Lymphatic system
• Assess for lymphoedema and refer to the Lymphoedema team as appropriate

Patients having breast surgery are given physiotherapy advice in the Pre-Operative phase and dependent on surgery type some patients are followed up as outpatients in clinic 10.
