Endoscopy Suite

We have spacious and bright endoscopy suites at both King’s Mill and Newark hospitals. We are JAG Accredited, which means that our Endoscopy suites operate to the highest standards.

There are a total of five procedure rooms where we are able to examine the upper gastrointestinal tract (stomach), lower gastrointestinal (bowel), lung and bladder with an endoscope. An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube with a light source and a video camera. Images of the inside of the body are then relayed to a television screen.

Endoscopy services are usually provided as daycase procedures, with patients recovering in our light and airy recovery areas without the need for an overnight stay in hospital. After procedures are completed, patients are transferred to the recovery area where light refreshments are offered and test results explained.

Patients can be referred to the service by their GP or a healthcare professional.
